GG&E
Hmm... why did the king smack the friars hand? Well something to consider is the fact that he was an Indian king. Not only did his people look at him as royalty, they saw him as a god. It was an insult to try to touch the king. He did think of himself as a god. How dare somone come up to him from a different palce, try to force this religion on him and try to take a book away form him. He was the "almighty" and noo one had the right to touch him without permission.
Also, one thing that cannot be explained is why the Indians "climbed over eachother and suffocated themselves. They were trying to show their god-king that they were willing to die for him. They were trying to show him that no matter what happened the would always lay their lives down as a sacrafice fro him and they were trying to show their loyalty.
Only hearing the Spaniards side of the story can be dangerous and very informative. Obviously they were very biased because they were very arrogant and forthcoming with their beliefs. SO believing their side of the story without hearing the other side would be very foolish because they could be lying. On the other hand, you could learn a lot about the way the Spaniards think and the way that they formed their attacks. That is only what I think. But the wouestion still stands; What really happened?

Neanderthals and Cro-magnons
What is the diference between a Neanderthal and a Cro-magnon? Which one came first? "Neanderthal" is usually a term that is used by many meaning dumb or stupid. Neanderthals evolved from the average gorilla , their skulls taking a much rounder shape and their posture straightening, and they were only one branch of human evolution. Another branch of human evolution is the Cro-magnon. These were evolved apes also, but they didnt reach this state until later. The neanderthals lived happily in the northern European part of the world when the Cro-magnons evolved into their "full human state". The time ranges of these races overplapped and, strangely, when the Cro-magnons reached the upper region of Europe, The Neanderthals simultaneously disappeared within the period of a couple thousand years. The question is, why?
Well that is the big question now isnt it? We must first take into account that the Cro-magnons were so much more advanced than the Neanderthals. Archaeologists have found no evidence of any civilized living by the Neanderthals. The earliest findings of organized living, hunting and art was during the time of the Cro-magnons. Along with that, there were signs of the wearly stages of modern weaponry. Instead of huge chunks of rock attached to the end of a stick, there were different tools used for different things; an axe for chopping, a knife for cutting, or a bowl for drinking or food.
My theory is that the Cro-magnons dominated the Neanderthanls with their superior weaponry. I think that the Cro-magnons marched onto the Neanderthals land and forced their way into their parts. I think that there was a massive war between the two branches of human evolution and the Cro-magnons won because they were better fighters. They were smarter and could make educated decisions and used their skill and weapons to dominate the country.
